Story

Before leaving work or going to sleep, I always take long notes for myself about where I left off. I wanted to create an app that combined the native Notes and Reminders apps with a few additional features to create a new to-do app experience.
Stack

Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, MVVM, Combine, Core Data, CloudKit, PencilKit, User Notifications, Local Auth, Swift Concurrency, StoreKit 2, and WidgetKit were used to build Sider using Xcode. Accessible with VoiceOver and Dynamic Type.
Process

All UX/UI designs were created using Figma prior to development. I wanted the user flow to be quick and interactive. After development, I used instruments to improve the app's performance, putting a particular emphasis on animations and data.
Outcome

Sider's success quickly spread, with its promotional video airing on a Tech Network channel and the app being featured in articles. It instantly piqued people's interest, gained traction on the App Store, and established itself in the to-do app market.

Whether you were struck with an idea or just wanted to doodle on a blank canvas, Sider is here to help you express yourself the way you want. With Sider sketches, you can easily capture your ideas on-the-go and draw them out in a way that accurately reflects what was in your head.

Sider has Apple Pencil support, allowing you to draw and write with greater precision than ever before!

While using Sider, if you have an Apple Pencil, you can take advantage of features such as palm rejection, tilt detection, and more. If you don't have one, you can still use the PencilKit to draw and write.

Notifications and widgets!

Sider notifications can be personalized in many ways, such as by setting a certain time of the next day to receive them or specific tasks you want to prioritize. It can help you remember them the next day, so you can focus on spending time with family or taking a break from work.

Sider allows you to review your tasks and ideas on your home screen and reminds you of them via notifications the next day.

With the latest notes and sketches stored in widgets, you can easily access them on your device. Getting reminded of your tasks and ideas with a glance at your home screen can save a lot of time and energy.

iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

Sync everything across your Apple devices.

You never have to worry about losing track of your notes and sketches again! iCloud synchronization makes sure that all of your devices have the same information, so you can easily pick up where you left off no matter what device you are using.

Sider makes the standard to-do app experience a lot more enjoyable on your iPhones, iPads, and (M1) Macs!

With iCloud synchronization, you can keep all of your notes and sketch lists up-to-date across all of your Apple devices.

With Sider's powerful filtering and sorting features, you can manage lists and focus on the tasks that need to be completed first.

Manage your siders by long pressing on the list view or the detail screen. You can move them to the top of your list, delete them, or mark them as complete. Siders can be filtered and sorted by completion status or by topic.

Multitasking and
private siders.

First class support for multitasking on iPadOS makes it easy to switch between multiple apps quickly and smoothly. By using multitasking, you can write notes and sketch ideas while using other apps or searching the web for inspiration.

Sider has multitasking on iPadOS, and you can keep your siders locked and private with a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID!
